Nutrition for Concussions (TBI) & Headaches

Nutrition is one of the most important aspects of brain health after a concussion.  Knowing this, and interacting with the
necessary foods, can have a positive impact on your recovery, however many people have no idea what healthy nutrition
is for normal health let alone healthy nutrition during a concussion/TBI recovery period.
At Whole Body Health we have a whole team of properly trained Doctors that can help you choose the proper foods and
supplements to get the nutrition required to heal your concussion, or headaches. When it comes to Nutrition and natural
recovery there are six remedies that are very important in Concussion treatment.
Six Important Remedies for Concussion Treatment
1. Sleep and rest
2. Light exercise
3. Fish oil
4. Creatine
5. Turmeric
6. Antioxidant-rich foods

At Whole Body Health, we address all the nutritional remedies mentioned above with Four main supplements with our
Concussion Protocol. We also recommend, Qest4 Biofeedback testing to confirm that these supplements are the best for
you, since everyone is different.

Supplements we recommend during our Concussion Protocol:

NS – Omega Complete – Contains DHA which are the building blocks of the brain! When the brain gets injured, rest is
vitally important while the brain tries to heal itself. During the healing process, the brain will need the building block to
build healthy new brain cells. The best way to bring our bodies back into balance is to take a high-quality, purified fish oil
supplement with the omega-3s we are missing most: eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and decosahexaenoic acid (DHA).
Therefore, we recommend Omega Complete! Want more research on this topic check out; Lewis MD. Concussions,
Traumatic Brain Injury, and the Innovative Use of Omega-3s. Journal of the American College of Nutrition. 2016;35(5):
WBH – InflamAway – is a proprietary formula designed to downregulate inflammatory pathways, primarily through the
inhibition of NF-kappaB, a molecule inside each cell. Many disease conditions are associated with inappropriate
activation of nuclear transcription factor kappaB (NF-KappaB). Obviously, during a Concussion there will tons of
inflammation which need to be reduced. InflamAway also contain a type of Turmeric. Researchers from the Department
of Neurosurgery at the Medical College of Georgia have found that curcumin reduces swelling, pain and oxidative brain
injury in mice. Turmeric has been shown to be an effective treatment for depression and inflammation, two common side
effects of a concussion.
WBH – Superfuel – Superfuel is just as it sounds, it is loaded with wholefood Vitamins, Minerals, Amino Acids, and
Powerful antioxidants to neutralize damaging free radicals. A study published in the journal Surgical NeurologyInternational found “encouraging results” in the neuroprotective properties of natural compounds in the treatment of concussions and TBIs. Some of the top compounds highlighted in this review are the antioxidant powerhouses that are found in Superfuel!

SP – Cataplex ACP – is used for Scurvy, Cell damage, Wound healing, Tissue repair, Red blood cell production, Vitamin A deficiency, Eye problems, Skin diseases and other conditions. Cataplex A-C-P Tablet works by blocking the damage caused by free radicals thus heals wounds; facilitating retina formation required for low light and color vision.

Foods to Stay away from: Cooked oils (anything fried), sugar, caffeine, alcohol, artificial colors and flavors – all of the things you’ve likely heard before are bad for anyone – are especially terrible for your brain when you have a concussion. They’re hidden in tons of to-go foods, more than you would imagine. These foods need to be cut out of the diet, in order for your brain to get what it needs. The foods you eat, and proper nutritional supplements can literally completely change the way you feel after a concussion and greatly increase your recovery!

If you or someone you know has suffered a Concussion and needs help, come to Whole Body Health and let us walk you
through the healing process! The proper nutrition should not be overlooked and it’s seldom used by the mainstream
Medical Community.
